New Year Vibe for Five playlist
I hope you all have been having an amazing 2022! I’m still working to bring you all the most excellent vibes whenever you choose to stop by, and that’s not going to slow down at all in this new year. I’m trying to both get to know as many new artists as possible and catch up on the latest releases of some of my favorites that I haven’t thought of in a while. So, I’ve given you a little bit of both here, a new track I found from one of my favorite artists of all time, and another from someone new I just found doing stupid stuff on the internet as we all do!
Artist – Kali Uchis | Track – fue mejor (acoustic)
Our first song is from the singer and producer Kali Uchis, who probably has made some of the catchiest songs in the known universe according to science. You basically can’t go wrong with a single one of any of her albums, with Isolation being another favorite of mine, but even if you don’t speak Spanish I absolutely suggest you give her recent release Sin Miedo a listen. This track “Fue Mejor” saw a few remixes, but this most recently acoustic version is the absolute standout for me.
Uchis’ signature hypnotic vocals jump between Spanish and English lyrics and are the perfect pairing with the warm, lush supporting guitar. You will absolutely get taken away to some romantic sunny countryside listening to this enough times, and that’s not just the TAKE FIVE talking. You hear the inspiration from classic ballads of the past especially with no modern production, but she still leads the song confidently into something new and her own. And for real, I would love to just high-five whoever played guitar on this track.
If you want to try out this track along with one of our new seltzer flavors, I would definitely say the citrus blast of our Mango, Yuzu & Blood Orange CBD Sparkling Water is the one and only true fit.
Artist – Sopico | Track – Nuage
I guess my New Year’s resolution should have been to teach myself guitar because I’ve got another acoustic cover for you all! Guitar haters, I promise I’ll pivot in another blog but you should really listen to “Nuage” by french rapper and singer Sopico anyway. This cover comes from COLORS, a studio that records great performances by a super diverse array of artists from all around the globe. Sopico plays his own guitar in the performance, singing along cooly and effortlessly to the melody.
Even without knowing the lyrics, Sopico communicates a feeling of reflection and melancholy with a gentle singing voice. His verses don’t feel super repetitive, and I’m always looking forward to his lowkey delivery of the chorus every time. You can’t help but bob your head around, and think wistfully about what could have been with… I don’t know, that croissant you didn’t order on the way to work or something.
As for a TAKE FIVE flavor to try with this song, I think the cool Green Tea, Cucumber & Mint CBD Sparkling Water will make this track go down even smoother.
Thanks for reading yet another of my Vibes for Five playlists! Keep an eye out for even more of these down the road, and always stay on the lookout for new music no matter where it’s from. The right song at the right moment can really turn your day around, which sounds stupid but it’s really true. Some of these songs have definitely done that for me!
